Regis & Kelly, NYC, XM, Charlottesville & More

Just got back from one heck of a productive week that took me to Liberty, NY, “Regis & Kelly”, XM Radio’s NYC Studio, Charlottesville, Virginia & finally home to Nashville…

So… this all started after last week’s amazing radio run through Kansas & Oklahoma where I visited a slew of country music stations in the midwest before driving all the way to Columbia, SC for a charity show (2400 miles in one week… wow), but enough about last week… let’s get to this week.

I flew to the Big Apple (not to be confused with The Little Apple, which is Manhattan, KS… ah… the things you learn while traveling the country on a radio tour) on Monday afternoon & rented a nice very lil’ compact car for a 2 hour drive through some beautiful NY country side to Liberty, NY.  Why Liberty, NY?? Well I am glad you asked… I travelled to Liberty, NY because that is where I got to be Tuesday morning’s guest DJ on Thunder102FM’s Morning Drive Show “Ciliberto & Friends”… which was pretty awesome! Paul, Michelle & I had a great time tradin’ stories & tellin’ little white lies… & I can’t wait to do it again!

After “Ciliberto & Friends” I drove back down to NYC… it is an amazingly beautiful drive… like insanely picturesque… for a trip to SiriusXM Radio’s Headquarters in downtown New York.  I was shown around by Al Skop, who is one of the big dogs at SiriusXM’s Highway Country Station, & although I didn’t get to meet my usual radio road companion Howard Stern I did get to see where the door to The Stern Show is located… which was a pretty amazing to me. :)

The next morning I got to back up Jewel on “Live w/ Regis & Kelly”, which was both stressful & lots of fun.  I say stressful because it is always hard on your vocals, etc. playing on any early morning show & I say fun because hey it was a nationally broadcast TV show with Jewel. :)  Only real bummer was that Regis was on vacation… well maybe next time.

As soon as I got done with the “Regis(less)” performance I ran over to La Guardia & caught a quick flight down to Charlottesville, VA where I got to play the lovely Jefferson Theatre with Brantley Gilbert.  The show was packed, Brantley was nothing but kind & considering I was running on fumes I don’t think my performance was too terrible… so I will give the whole experience a grade of B+.

& now here I am lyin’ on the couch with two very small dogs crashing out at my feet & nothing to do but fall asleep… so until next time… get lucky & much love!

LUCKY Radio Tour #4 & Carolina Shows!

Last week I had a short, yet productive, two day adventure on the road promoting the new single “Lucky”! I set out Tuesday afternoon for a 7+ hour drive to Virginia. Made my rounds there, then headed down through North Carolina, and finally ended up in my home state of South Carolina!

Wednesday morning, I began bright and early on WYTI 1570 with Cliff Beach at a nice little studio in Rocky Mount, Virginia.  A few minutes down the road was Craig Richards in Bassett, Virginia at Super Country WZBB 99.9. Had a great morning with those two filling them in on the new single… and then headed an hour southeast to Danville, Virginia. That’s where Alan Rowe was waitin’ for me at WAKG 103.3. He was kind enough to let me play live on the air. And that was a wrap for Wednesday! Thanks, Virginia!

I woke up in Lenoir, North Carolina on Thursday morning, and headed to WKVS 103.3 to meet with Davey Crockett (you can imagine how much fun I had with that… he is a legend!). He, Steve Z, and I had an awesome time in the studio talking “Lucky”  – and I schooled them on my wonderful sponsors at Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and how delicious their product is. We even had a lil’ break time with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts! Sadly, I had to get back on the road to my final stop in Union, South Carolina. That’s where Mr. Daniel Prince invited me into WBCU 1460 for a chat about my music, my travels, and how to get “Lucky”! It’s always good to be in the Carolinas… even if only for a day!

See pictures from last week’s tour here

After finishing up in Union, I drove to my hometown of Camden, SC where I got a little practice in with the band at my Pop’s guitar shop down on the corner. Friday night we played at The Evening Muse in Charlotte, NC – and it was a good time! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped me finish the week strong! Saturday I drove “straight down I-20 to the capital city where the pretty Carolina girls go” to play the pregame show at The Loose Cockaboose (TLC) before my Gamecocks beat down Vanderbilt. Go COCKS!

I’ll be leaving out tomorrow for more “Lucky” touring…. and I’ll be back on stage at TLC in Columbia this Saturday after the game at 7:30 to celebrate a “W” against the Auburn Tigers!

Hope to see everyone soon! Much love and Go Gamecocks!

PD
